WORKING EXPERIENCE

With a background in legal, accounting and finance, Ms. Fung Ru Huey has 35 years of diverse experience in corporate and capital market, and held leadership positions in areas of regulations and policy, listing and compliance, corporate governance, corporate and market supervision, strategy and risk, investment analysis, and advisory – legal and investment.

Ms. Fung joined the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) in 2010 as the Head of Market Surveillance overseeing the overall trading in the equity, bond and derivatives markets. During her career with the SC until 2024, Ms. Fung headed various key functions in Market and Corporate Supervision and Oversight, Chairman’s Office, established the Market Regulations function, and Strategy & Policy as the Deputy Director & Head of Market Structure & Policy.

Ms. Fung held various senior positions in Bursa Malaysia Berhad for 11 years (1999-2010) leading critical functions including Head of Market Surveillance, listing and compliance, financial review and corporate surveillance, corporate governance, investigation and enforcement, market crisis management. Her career also includes working as a consultant with Arthur Anderson in Sydney HQ specialising in business structure and taxation; a corporate lawyer with Cheang & Ariff, Kuala Lumpur, a financial/investment analyst and fund management services.

Ms Fung has spearheaded transformative initiatives, fostered strategic international and domestic collaborations, and earned recognition for her thought leadership and contributions to Malaysia’s capital market development, amongst others, the Revamp of Bursa Listing Requirements, SC’s 5-Year Roadmap for MSME and MTC, MITI’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030.
